People said in 2016 that Trump will never win the nomination. They didn't see that the energy, anger, bottled up frustrations was what he was catering to if only with words.
I feel the same is happening on the Left - -in a tribal society both sides will pick extremes. The Right went MAGA and it is quite possible the Left will go AOC, Mamdani, and even Gavin who pretends to be Centrist but he's skilled at walking the fine line. Sadly the Dems I'd actually *vote for* - Beshear, Shapiro, Emanuel to name a few --- i sometimes fear they will be the Jeb Bushes of the 2028 primary though it's too too early to judge this.
AOC, Bernie and the extreme left seem to now have control of the dem party. They back Zohran Mamdani. Like Obama, Mamdani has a smooth orator speaking voice. It is the reason why Obama won, good looks and the gift of gab (with the help of his teleprompter) making a lot of promises.
I see the same happening with Mamdani.
The exodus of New Yorkers who can afford to leave the city will surely increase if Mamdani becomes Mayor. Those who cannot will vote for Mamdani banking on the (some ridiculous) promises he has made thinking Mamdani will make life more affordable for them. It won’t happen.
