Death penalty for gay sex is a Leviticus Old Testament direction, not one of the Beatitudes.
Beatitudes not mentioned in the OP.
This is in the NT:
“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”
Folks will argue: no it doesn’t mean that, it means pederasty. Whatever. Why should this ancient text have influence on our morality today, no matter what it says? Or at least, not any more influence than any other literature.
The Old Testament is 90% nonsense at best.
Some fun stories in there, but yeah. It’s fiction.
There’s some pretty nasty stuff in the New. In the old when we’re dead we’re just dead. In some texts in the new we get tortured forever. So that’s nice.
