I largely agree with above but not completely. There is still one last thing left to prove: that he chose his successor wisely. Succession planning was one of his most critical responsibilities, and he had a decades to get it right. Nothing will cement his record and legacy more than a thriving Berkshire in the decades ahead.

Buffett has said he would rather have Abel handle his money "than any of the top investment advisers or any of the top CEOs in the United States". "He understands capital allocation as well as I do". Very high praise indeed!

Above reminds me of when the Nobel Committee awarded the Peace Prize to Obama hoping that awarding the prize would inspire Obama to actually earn it after the fact. Buffett may be trying a similar motivational tactic on Greg!

I fully agree that Buffett should not say anything publicly that can be interpreted as undermining Greg. I hope someone close to him or Greg himself gives him this feedback. Continuing to do public interviews while abiding by said feedback will be a much better outcome than completely stopping. On balance, the pros of him continuing to publicly share his wisdom far outweigh the valid cons others have mentioned.
