Nope. Didn't lose. Those were section 301. Legal, as authorized by some trade act from the 70s. Biden not only continued them, but expanded some of them with regards to China. Again, legal per section 301.
And if trade items were entering duty-free from Canada, section 301 does NOT apply (i.e. we can't tariff Canada without an act of Congress).
I would be interested in how "Canadians are being idiots also". Are you thinking of their retaliations? Because, in that event, we started it. So we are the real idiots, in that case.
