The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

<< I suspect it won't be easy though.>>

I can add it, but it isn't a technical question but only cultural. Most of the community exactly wants to keep the original 25 year culture preserved so I am careful what to change. 'When it works, don't change it'.

Hypothesizing, the ability to not edit might influence people to take extra care in posting, as well as possibly encouraging longer posts and less of a Twitter-like culture, which some of the community here would do anything to be 180 degrees away from.

In any case, there are always second or third order effects to such change that I also cannot predict. If I added an edit feature then it would be more like a short-term undo feature to remove your own post filled with too many errors, before it was read or 5 minutes, whichever first, for example.
