Regarding slashing provider compensation, if Medicare payment rates are so low, why do providers participate even now? Need the business? I suspect the providers still make a decent profit.
Yes, medicare buy-in is a fantasy, not likely to happen. Would be quite nice for me, though. We’ve bought private health insurance for 18 years now, ACA for 12 or so. Next year we have to switch insurers - current insurer is pulling out of the marketplace - probably have to find some new doctors. Expensive, very narrow network, subsidy cliff, deny, deny, deny.
We need the ACA or an alternative to survive another 10 years. Not looking good.
