I have two recommendations for Cologne. The first is a museum of roman/germanic artifacts:
https://roemisch-germanisches-museum.de/HomepageI was amazed at the glass bottles and beads they had displayed. Lots of info on what life was like "on the border" between the Roman empire and the wilds of Germany.
Second, the Kathe Kollwitz museum:
https://www.kollwitz.de/en/20th century, sculpture and prints. I first learned about her through the amazing sculptures she had done in the cemetary of her son, lost in WW1:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladslo_German_war_c...Cologne is a very cool town. There was a massive pride parade through the city the day I was there.
One(?) reason to visit Luxembourg City is that Patton is buried in the military cemetary there. Actually, any US cemetary in Europe is worth visiting.
