The left never understood that a lot of things that drive the blue states are natural resources or the happenstance of critical infrastructure. They always assume that liberalism built New York and California.

Uhhh, no.

Gavin Newsome is going to test this.

California air regulators have adopted two landmark rules setting aggressive zero-emission requirements for fleets of heavier vehicles and locomotives, a move expected to drastically cut pollution near ports and rail yards and alter the way goods move through the American West.

I'm going to love seeing German-style electric locomotives replace the diesel ones. The Germans ones can tow about 8 or 10 cars as opposed to the half-mile long trains you see in the US. But it gets better:

In a second vote Friday, the board enacted a rule that will accelerate the adoption of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles in all public and many large private fleets ' a regulation that will necessitate more than 1 million new electric freight trucks, school buses and delivery vehicles over the next 25 years. Arguably the most notable provision will require all cargo trucks entering California seaports and rail yards to be zero-emission by 2035.

And that's the kill shot. So for the privilege of using a California port you have to buy all-new electric trains and trucks to load/unload. Up in Vancouver, Canada they should be popping champagne corks right about now. That should be happening here in Washington but Jay Inslee will soon say "Hold my beer" and do the same.
