How was that Biden's mistake? The President isn't supposed to directly oversee the prosecutorial decisions of the DOJ.
So you really think no president before Trump ever had influence on DOJ policy? I'm sure Biden interviewed his candidates for AG and made his decision, in part, base on how they intended to handle Trump's crimes. The choice of Attorney General is perhaps the most important personnel choice a new president makes. He chose the milquetoast Merrick Garland rather than someone else, let's say Sally Yates, who would have pursued Trump like a bulldog. A charge of sedition could have been brought against Trump within weeks of the new administration being sworn in. It was a slam dunk case. Biden chose someone he knew wouldn't do it and thus set us on a course to Trump 2.0.
