We've gone over this dozens of times. Hunter is a former drug addict. Drug addicts make bad decisions and often do reprehensible things. And every democrat here has said the same thing: if you have the evidence, prosecute him. We don't care and we don't excuse his behavior. Trump's hand-selected prosecutor was kept on after Biden took office (normally those prosecutors are asked to resign with a new administration but Biden kept him on) and he continued his investigation and made his indictment.

First of all, you seem to have missed all of the times Biden has made it very very clear that he recognizes his son's weaknesses and major problems, has supported his efforts to clean up his life, and is proud of what he has accomplished so far.

And it's generally the liberals and progressives who are more concerned about people using their personal connections to government figures leveraging them for profit - measures that try to put some limits on people trading on those connections (lobbyist restrictions, disclosures of government meetings and contacts, and the like) are more often proposed by "good government" liberal/progressive types that conservatives. They're certainly not out here lauding Hunter Biden as a "hero" for doing that.

I don't pretend to know what's needed for Hunter Biden to continue on his path of addiction recovery or what triggered his drug abuse in the first place but I do know that he's been nothing but headaches politically for Joe Biden for much of his adult life and the president still loves and stands by his son regardless of the political fallout. There was a day, pre-Trump, when republicans would have applauded such "pro-family" behavior. But the cult's gotta' cult.
Do you not have someone in your immediate or extended family -- or a friend -- who has suffered with drug addiction or alcoholism? Recovery is a lifelong process. If anything, I wish the president would talk more about his son's drug addiction and recovery because that's certainly something he has in common with hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of Americans.

If there had been anything useful on it, he would have been shouting it over a megaphone at Four Seasons Landscaping. The FBI and CIA were headed by the people that Trump appointed. I couldn't care less about Hunter. But I'm sure Joe cares a lot, especially since his other son died of brain cancer. My brother died very young, and my dad (who previously was mostly absent) suddenly was there. It's family. Good or bad, Hunter is his family. I suspect he doesn't care about public perception when it comes to his family. And I can excuse it if he has Hunter attending functions that are appropriate for a first-offspring. I can't excuse any abuse of power, or law-breaking. I don't care who you are.
Other than his laptop, I know very little about Hunter. And, until he crosses into illegal activity, I don't care. And I still don't care about the illegal stuff as long as his dad doesn't intervene on his behalf. If he commits a crime, he should be prosecuted just like anyone else, with a presumption of innocence. His dad is my business (i.e. my POTUS). His offspring, if they aren't into political affairs, aren't. Same with Trump. Tiffany was none of my business because she stayed out of the political side of the family. Ditto Baron. Jared was my business because he was an actual government official appointed by Trump.
