The latest career guidance TPTB are feeding the Proles is "skilled trades", as AI replaces the people who followed the previous "knowledge worker" guidance.

For several days, the "news" has been reporting on the Bot Olympics in China. Chinese bots are approaching humans in speed, agility, and manual dexterity. Seems a lead pipe cinch bots can soon replace carpenters, plumbers, bricklayer, and be worked 100+ hrs/wk, 52 weeks/year, without sniveling.

The only fly is the CAPEX. A Prole shows up at the "JC's" door, already grown and trained, at someone else's expense, so acquisition cost is near zero, and the moment the workload falls, Proles can be kicked out the door, at near zero cost. A bot has high acquisition cost, and, if the bot becomes redundant, the "JC" is still out his CAPEX expense. I suppose a "JC" could try a mixed workforce: bots to perform base load work, with Proles added and thrown away as needed, as the workload ebbs and flows. Problem with that plan is the Proles would get hip to it, and shove a sabot up Robbie's kazoo.

In the 80s, there was a short lived auto industry theme park in Flint, MI. One of the exhibits was an audio animatronic autoworker signing a love song to the bot that took his job. I doubt "JCs" are any more perceptive now, than they were then.

Look on the bright side. With AI replacing all the "knowledge workers", and AI connected bots replacing all the skilled trades, the only jobs left for Proles will be the ones so low pay bots are uneconomic. For that, Proles don't need more than Bantu education. Prole education beyond that level can be defunded, and the money used to cover another "JC" tax cut. :)
