For those interested, Berkshire's book per share is up 12.2%/year in the same 7 years.

Berkshire has been a pretty nice place to be. Not keeping up with the mighty SPY, but sufficient for my purposes at 8.6% CAGR adjusted for inflation.

Add in the usual SPY is overvalued, Berkshire isn't and I feel quite satisfied. Don't see Berkshire as a coiled spring, though.

Only thing I can say about ATD is I saw one in Montreal and thought about taking a look inside, but the place looked so dingy and uninviting I didn't bother. Thought the same about a Dollar General near me. However, I did discover my local Dollar Tree is actually quite good for greetings cards and party balloons. I now go there twice a year, which is the majority of my shopping, not counting Home Depot, Amazon and bicycle stores.
