My experience with "JCs" like Trump says, no matter what they come up with, Trump will reject it, because he didn't think of it.
I'm not sure that would be true of Trump. He seems more likely to take credit, claim that he did think of it, and get everyone around him to do the same.
Still, I'm not sure that the troops will have much better luck finding an exit strategy for us. Trump has de facto established a victory condition that we probably can't meet: to wit, we need to get an agreement with Iran that is materially better than the one Obama got. That's unlikely to happen. Not only is it substantively hard, but putting together that type of agreement doesn't happen in weeks or months - and I don't think Trump wants to be in Iran for the one-year anniversary of the war.
