The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

I may have missed this being posted. Six prosecutors resign over push by the Justice Dept. to investigate and prosecute Renee Good's widow and not pursue charges on the ICE agent. It's clear Trump's formula to subvert Justice works. One of the prosecutors that resigned was leading the investigations into the fraud in Minnesota and is described as a blow to those investigations and prosecutions. They also objected to Minnesota being iced out of the ICE agent's investigation.

SNIP Six federal prosecutors in Minnesota resigned on Tuesday over the Justice Department’s push to investigate the widow of a woman killed by an ICE agent and the department’s reluctance to investigate the shooter, according to people with knowledge of their decision...

...The Minneapolis police chief, Brian O’Hara, said in an interview that Mr. Thompson’s resignation dealt a major blow to efforts to root out rampant theft from state agencies. The fraud cases, which involve schemes to cheat safety net programs, were the chief reason the Trump administration cited for its immigration crackdown in the state. The vast majority of defendants charged in the cases are American citizens of Somali origin.

“When you lose the leader responsible for making the fraud cases, it tells you this isn’t really about prosecuting fraud,” Mr. O’Hara said. SNIP
