I am not well informed about the chips industry. And it makes lots of sense that the US would be a lot more expensive.

But I do understand that access to advanced chips are a vital part of national defense. That's showing up in Russia now according to reports. And it damn sure showed up in the auto industry recently.

So it may not be just a matter of economics.

I wrote on the old BRK board that if I were Taiwan, I would threaten to destroy the chip factories should Taiwan be invaded by China. That might bring out a lot of support from the rest of the world because of the threats to their economies.

Just thinking out loud.
