It's the Jews all over again. Back in the late 1920s and early 1930s, the Jews were the scapegoats in Germany. Everything was their fault. If you were unemployed, somehow the Jews were responsible. The economy is bad? It's those damned Jews. The people were so distracted, they didn't notice they were losing their democracy and freedom.

Well, today, it's immigrants. They are responsible for all our problems. They are illegally voting in elections, and taking jobs from Americans, and committing all sort of murder and rape. (None of which is true, of course.) Meanwhile, we're losing our democracy, and rule of law, and -ultimately- our freedom.

But, the Jews weren't responsible for all Germany's woes, and the immigrants aren't responsible for our woes. In a democracy, the people are responsible for their own woes (because we voted for it...whatever "it" is). But they are a useful distraction while the oligarchs take more power and pick your pocket. Which is exactly what they're doing.
