Don't really know a lot about him. Heard the name. In the news because we won his primary at age 80(!!!).
Odds are really good he is going to die in office. People in the 80s simply have less time remaining, on average, than people in their 60s or 40s. There may be other factors at play, but I would think he shouldn't have run at all. Make way for younger people.
Or maybe it's just power. McConnell is highly questionable, as he has been for a while (he's been frail for the past several years). But he runs again and again. Dem, Rep, they all seem to want their office forever. I have to conclude it's more about them, and less about "serving the people" (which, as I type it, seems like an obvious conclusion).
And voters passed him. Honestly, at age 80, I'm probably voting for the other person (in the primary). Unless that person has crazy goals (e.g. open the borders without restriction). That may be ageist of me, but there are simply too many things that can go wrong with old people. Look at Biden. Reagan, arguably, we experiencing dementia while in office (2nd term). I should know...1poormom declined pretty quickly in her 80s. I'm feeling my age now (in my 60s). It's just a fact of life.
Maybe MA had a good reason to choose Markey. Given that it's MA, he'll probably win in November. But I gotta question the reasoning of his running, the Dem party supporting his running, and the wisdom of the masses voting for someone old enough to be my father.
