Atheism featured prominently in this movie. I think Fraser earned his award. Very sad movie.

Two of the main characters both know religion, and either don't like it or are actively hostile towards it. I loved his summary of the biblical mythos. I think it really laid bare the farcical nature of religion, and specifically the xian narrative.

It wasn't really the point of the movie, but it was one of the cornerstones. Very character-oriented, several sources of tension. I could give more detail, but don't want to spoil it. I highly recommend it, but be prepared for a sad movie.
