"Malthus was right. It's not a question of if, only when we will destroy our ability to live on this planet if we do nothing to avoid it"

Malthus was an idiot Doomer that history has already demonstrated to be hilariously wrong. Malthus essays stated that human population grows exponentially while food supply increases only linearly. That turned out to be way wrong in that our ability to feed ourselves has more than kept up with the amount we breed). He ignored things like technological advances (we have become much better at growing food) as well as cultural transitions (i.e. birth rates drop as standards of living and educational levels grew).

Humankind is most certainly not out breeding our ability to sustain ourselves. Malthus was as wrong as could be.

As for destroying our ability to live on this planet, that is a whole other topic which is much more worriesome than having too many people on the planet. Unfortunately human ingenuity works both ways. Humankind has figured out ways to completely destroy the planet and make it uninhabitable to more than a handful of humans at one persons, Putin, could effectively make large portions of the planet uninhabitable to humans by launching all of Russia's nuclear missiles. Even if the U.S. didn't respond, Russia has enough nukes that almost all of the surface could be rendered inhabitable by either direct strikes or by the fallout from the nuclear winter that would result. That wasn't what Malthus was talking about.
