Let the price of gas soar so high, the USian Sheeple will be willing to accept a full on ground invasion, so they can feed their SUVs, without taking out a mortgage on their house.
I mean - can anyone really think that would be the outcome? That if gas prices spike above $5.02 (the Biden-era high) or even higher, that it would increase U.S. support for more military action in the Middle East?
I mean, the far more likely reaction is the opposite. If gas prices spike because of the war, it will get the American people to demand that the war end. Not escalate. The Administration would have to know that a massive ground troop deployment to Iran would result in a barrage of missiles blowing up the gas and oil fields in Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia - to say nothing of the destruction of Iran's energy infrastructure. If the American people are unhappy about inflation and gas prices before such an assault, they'll be livid staring down the barrel of 3-5 years of high gas prices because the U.S. and Iran blew up all the energy production in the Gulf.
I think that's exceptionally unlikely. The Administration would never get authorization from Congress for a ground invasion, and (more relevant) they'd never get the money from Congress for a ground invasion. Because even though Trump doesn't have to stand for election again, everyone else in the GOP does - and they're not going to have the votes to let him start Iraq 2.0.
