Medicare G/F is not all it's chalked up to be...
That sounds ominous. Could you elaborate further beyond this?
There is a $250 deductible and it doesn't cover meds.
We have always viewed insurance as protecting our lifestyle, rather than a one fee all included way to health care. We insure for that which we would have troubles recovering from financially. Given the recent news, think hantavirus. Or cancer, which given we are gone for only 15 days, I am not that worried about international coverage for. Even a compound fracture of the tibia, for which we have experience with the bills after Youngest's accident, would be OK, along with the medevac insurance which we are getting. A wrenched knee for me, the most probable, OK too, as much as it would blow.
Perhaps this is a lack of naivete with regard to illness and injury, or a lack of experience with international travel, or simply a different mindset, but I respect your experience and opinion and it makes me wonder what I am missing?
IP,
hoping to do the extended international travel in the near future
