The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

>>You have deluded yourself into to believing that vast numbers of Trump supporters are so stupid they really expect all this ill be accomplished on day one and will be outraged when day two arrives with so much left undone. Do I really have to point out you are wrong about that?<<

Not me. I expect a lukewarm deportation scheme that fizzles after going after criminals, then I expect importing immigrants to go by the wayside - none of which bothers me as long as we don't get inhumane. But that's part of Trump - send the "inhumane" message to stop the flow. I think it's inhumane to deport someone who's been here for 30 years and isn't a criminal.

I want the farmers to be able to plant and harvest - deal with that. I don't care if it's illegals, but if you want permits to work then get that GD program to work or accept it doesn't and let the farmers have their workers. Don't hurt farmers.

If we do programs to get people into houses, look at Singapore. Help couples that decide to marry and have kids into housing. - Lambo

=============

I agree with you on all this. Reasonable common sense perspective on likely outcome.

We would be better off as a country if liberals did more to understand why the American voters see Trump's priorities as better aligned with their lived experience and adjust their policy positions accordingly.
