The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Some have held, for years, that Proles are nothing in the eyes of "JCs" but expendable meat.

In the discussion about the US shifting to a single payer, someone objected, due to the massive number of private insurance processing staff that would be out of work. Yes, the insurance industry would cry a river, about "all these poor Proles that would be out of work" to those considering the single payer plan. But, if the companies then contracted with someone in Botswana, or an AI farm, to replace their processing staff, the USians they previously professed such compassion for, would be out the door in a hot second, because they are expendable meat.

US Working Class-Disposable or Just Recycable?

So guess what happens to us “unique” individuals: we’re basically interchangeable, too, and therefore disposable. As consumers and workers, we’re commodities, interchangeable with billions of other consumers and workers around the world.

If profits sag in the US, or labor costs increase in the US, no worries, we can mximize profits elsewhere, as consumers and workers are globally interchangeable commodities.

Your boss may demand loyalty from you, but don't ever expect your boss to be loyal to you.
