The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

By now you’ve likely heard about President Trump’s press conference yesterday, in which he blamed diversity programs at the Federal Aviation Administration for the tragic crash over the Potomac Wednesday—without a shred of evidence, naturally.

Well, as if we needed a reminder that things can always get dumber, it turns out that the program to offer FAA careers to people with disabilities—the program Trump specifically decried yesterday—was a Trump administration initiative from 2019.

One hour after the crash,Trump Trump, without a shred of evidence on which to base his accusation, already “knew” the cause- it was obviously some sort of DEI/woke/CRT screwup.

How did he know this?

“Common sense” obviously”

The same common sense that led him to call for the death penalty for several black men who proved to be innocent.

One hour after the crash, before the bodies had cooled to ambient temperature, even in the cold waters of the Potomac, did the President of the United States, speaking on behalf of all of us, even bother to offer the minimum “thoughts and prayers” to the families and friends of those who were killed?

Of course not. He wasn’t about to waste this opportunity on such nonsense.

Instead, without any evidence except for his “common sense”, he launched into the familiar
and full throated attack on the DEI hires who were “obviously” to blame.

So now the grown-ups are sifting through the evidence. Divers are retrieving black boxes and analysts are beginning to pore over the tapes, computer programs and real-time stored data.

And then they will reveal their conclusions. And then we’ll know. At least I hope we’ll know.

Perhaps the’ll discover that blame lies with a blind air traffic controller who couldn’t read his braille printout fast enough to keep up with the evolving situation…..

Just know that Trump will be looking for someone who fits the profile that justifies his “common sense”. He’s already put the bullseye on the back of that human target.

This is the guy entrusted with nuclear codes.
