I worked in the Bush and Obama WH, in the White House Military Office.

There's an entity, White House Transportation, that has NCO drivers who can ferry key staff and family about in nice cars. That would have been fine for this kid, and was what non-cabinet level family members and kids typically traveled in. POTUS kids, not VP kids. I remember a couple times hearing the calls go out when Michele Obama's mom was getting taken somewhere in a car. I remember zero times when a Bush or Obama kid came or left in a helo. I know of no such reports from my contemporaries on shift when I was not.

This is a huge waste. Put that kid in a car, put a USSS SUV with a few agents in it in the lead, all good.

Helicopters, frankly, are a much bigger target. I never understood the desire to fly around in a very visually obvious and distinguishable helicopter, at all. The HMX-1 helps are all shiny, and you can tell what they are far, far away.

But egos and favors and here we are. Mr. Ohio Hillbilly has really fallen far from his purported modest origins.
