The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

There were four "General Rants", dealing with government direction of transfer of wealth, police state, terrorism, and theocracy.

Trump has chipped away at the long-standing wall between church and state. It’s just the beginning

A series of faith initiatives championed by the White House have led to a systematic religious revival within the government’s operations, culture and policy.

Americans have been encouraged to pray for an hour each week. Some government agencies have opened their meetings with prayer or hosted regular faith services. Bible verses and Christian imagery now appear on official government social media accounts.

By this summer, the group — Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission — is expected to produce a blueprint for policy changes that could redefine the boundaries between government and religion in American life.

Most of us probably realize that this initiative by Trump the God is just as much a dog and pony show as his posturing in front of a church, holding a Bible, but his followers are so deep in confirmation bias they will believe it, and thus excuse his other excesses.

Meanwhile, I intend to hang on to the Bible inscribed to me by the Baptist lodge, in 1958, for when the regime starts sorting out the "good" Christians from the "bad, domestic terrorist" Christians. I posted an article, a few days ago, about one Catholic member of Trump the God's "Religious Liberty Commission", being booted off the commission, for not conforming to the regime's official position.
