The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

My brother got a Trump clock that on the hour announces that, "We're going to Make America Great Again!" to annoy me. My wife agreed that there's no reason to go over there often. :) Fellow is anti vaxx and as he disintegrates I expect to hear a lot. "Vaccines will change your DNA!"

My sister manipulated him into doing a bunch to take care of her, which stressed him. She was a bedridden mess and going through what money she had, down to the last 150k and he thought he was going to administer the estate. I told him he could have it all, I wanted nothing. She did a Transfer on Death of the remainder to her estranged daughter which surprised him. He got nothing of what she had left. I got dragged into making a trip up there with him - and have a great memory of the solar eclipse. If I saw that eclipse when we were a tribe, I'd start believing in spirits too. That was impressive.

Earlier in life, he was upset with my sister because she was getting $300 more a month in social security with disability. But she IS disabled I pointed out to him. Had to have a special van provided to her so she could drive to work in a wheel chair. Bedridden for the last years. Then he figures out she didn't qualify for medicare for the last two years. She died owing everybody, but Transfer on Death seems to defeat all that. Surprise!
