Ah, right, sales tax. I suppose that could be easily addressed by rounding up/down to the nearest quarter.
It's easier to simply have POS systems round to one decimal place, rather than two, which also aligns with the impact of 60 years of inflation on the buying power of US currency. A few more years of "supply side economics", and we can dispense with fractional dollar currency entirely.
The local Detroit news was interviewing candidates for Gov about their budget proposals yesterday. One Dem is a nut. The other Dem mumbled. The leading GOP candidate wheeled out the usual blather, that repealing the state income tax will so juice the state economy that the tax base will be increased enough to cover the loss of revenue.
