They may wish the law was different, but it is what it is. So you can't -for example- sweep up a US citizen and deport them. You can't single out law firms with punitive executive orders. You can't violate due process. Coming to the US and requesting asylum is not illegal. Etc, etc, etc.

But they can if they simple ignore the law.

What's a judge gonna do about it?

Brownshirts simply cuff the judge at 3a.m in their pajamas, book 'em for being anti-trump, get them convicted by a Trump judge, and disbarred for being a convict.
