The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

They seem shocked by the misogyny of the Rep party. They want careers and to be moms, and are being told "women shouldn't be lawyers". Etc.

nytimes.com - Conservative women manosphere disapproval

They need to join the Dems, at least temporarily. Dems will fight for their equal rights. Then they can either witness the destruction of the Rep party (and participate in its rebuilding), or try to move the Dem party from within. But staying in the Rep party is supporting their own oppression, as they seem to realize (but also seem to be confused by it, for some odd reason).

Ms. Begg, a lawyer with five children who often draws on her Catholic faith, has heard some conservatives pushing for a return to rigid gender norms, with women firmly planted at home. One of her sons told her that some of his male high school classmates have openly questioned whether women should be able to vote.

...

“I would love to be a stay-at-home mom, but I feel like a lot of times, girls are belittled for wanting that,” she said. Then again, she added, “On the right, there’s this idea that women shouldn’t work.”

She liked a “middle ground,” she said, “where it’s actually a beautiful thing to be a mother, but it’s also a beautiful thing to share your talents with a wider public spirit.”

The featured person appears to run a program for interns (female). I agree with her that she should be able have a family and a career. She appears to be fighting a headwind within her own party. No wonder women can't win POTUS...probably 1/3 (at least) are dead-set against that even if it is a Rep woman. So they would have to win most of the 2/3 remaining voters to prevail.
