At Polytechnic I did Electrical Engineering. No languages, no English class, no pottery, painting, ice skating or wine-tasting. Math and engineering only. I've sometimes been amazed at the lack of knowledge of Electrical Engineers with master's degrees from prestigious US universities. Different expectations.

I'd expect that from any type of Tech Institute. Well rounded liberal arts educations give people something to think about while they are doing work drudgery. :) As one friend told me, "Gave me something to think about while plowing the north forty."
