In light of the preemptive announcement of Rand Paul and other Republicans that their whole intention in calling Dr Fauci for a hearing is to entrap him into false statements so he can be prosecuted, Fauci is handling this just right.

Fauci accuses Rand Paul of having an "unhinged obsession with calling for my prosecution" and of making "repeated slanderous comments," then says "although it pains me to do so... under advice of my attorneys, I will invoke my right under the 5th Amendment to refrain from answering your questions."

ME: Unspoken is that they don't really need a false statement. Even if Fauci makes no mistakes, they'll choose whatever is titillating to MAGA and prosecute him anyway, because it's the show to MAGA that counts. And when it's dropped, or tossed out of court, MAGA will just think the deep state is at work, etc. It's all a distraction from Iran, Epstein, etc.
