For some reason, full bore proponents of Free Healthcare never, ever, ever want to talk about that stuff. Avoid it like the plague, in fact.
Simple reason: of the seventy or eighty countries that have various flavors of universal health coverage, not a single one regulates what foods you can eat, nor how much exercise you must do. Nobody is stupid enough to try to make this argument, present company excepted, because it has never happened, including in this country for programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.
To be clear, many of those countries - including our own - do things to encourage better diet: things like not putting soda vending machines in schools, or putting “sin” taxes on things like alcohol, tobacco, and so on.
But otherwise, never happens. Never will happen. Too much pushback, too instantaneous, people in politics not dumb enough to try it, again, present company (and people who mysteriously are in charge of health and who you support) excepted.
