Neither Patel nor Kirk served in the military.

The hard right readily adopts the lingo of the military. It makes them sound manly.

When you say “See you in Valhalla”, that automatically means you can spit 20 feet, piss 50, and shoot the head off a dove with your Sig at 30 paces- while the dove is flying. Squinty eyed, muscles rangy from digging postholes…

At least that’s the image.

And sometimes just cultivating the image rather than actually living it- will get you appointed as Director of the FBI
