If a few seats flip in the upcoming special elections, we may have a new speaker in a few weeks.

In a way, I kind of hope they don’t. An awful lot of voters need to learn what the current Republican Party is all about. The only way they will learn that is by experience.

Flipping the House in special elections will keep that from happening. Failures of GOP policy can be blamed on the Democrats in the House rather than on the bad policy where it belongs.

It’s kind of like raising kids. Sometimes you have to let them do stupid stuff and suffer the consequences. As long as it’s not life-threatening, pain can be an excellent teacher.
