The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Unless there's some association between crypto and leveraged, systemically-important entities

I think this is an interesting point.

The implication of other posts is that the president's personal stake in the industry may stand in for such association. That is a matter of inference, but it does not seem implausible to me.

Setting that issue aside, is there any way the broader investing community can know whether such association exists? Obviously, the leveraged relationships that cracked open in 2008 were, in principle (but only in part), public knowledge, whose significance was either not recognized or ignored. I get the feeling people are watching more closely this time. What might they see that should cause alarm?
