The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

finance.yahoo.com - Americans are uniquely vulnerable to iran war volatility after years of buying stocks

Americans poured more of their wealth into the stock market in recent years — a positive force that left investors feeling rich when stocks were hitting all-time highs.

But as the war in Iran rattles markets, it risks leaving everyday investors exposed to a pullback.

In a note to clients, UBS said wealth in equities now accounts for nearly 40% of US household net worth, about double the roughly 10%-20% share that prevailed during the oil price shocks of the 1990s.

Uniquely Vulnerable

Just rubbish.

markets.businessinsider.com - Stock market ownership wealthiest americans one percent record high economy
The wealthiest Americans have never owned so much of the stock market, with the top 10% now holding a record 93% of US equities, according to Federal Reserve data.

Based on this data from the Federal Reserve, the top 10% of American households had a net worth of at least $1,936,900

The top 10% will be fine regardless.
What the Iran War may provide is a buying opportunity for the top 10%.
