Iran says it hit American vessels, oil tankers in Hormuz in retaliation for U.S. strikes

There is a theory being voiced that, as the US is hinting about going a lot harder in Iran, after the election, possibly to the point of tactical nukes, Iran is trying to bring things to a boil before the election.
