Literally:

For those who hate social media links, this is a video of two climate protestors pouring red powder all over themselves and the glass case that contains the US Constitution.

Why weren't they dragged out by their b@lls by the other tourists? 2 uniformed cops were there and let them do it.

Heh. They disrespected it. But they didn't touch it. They couldn't touch it.

That document is extremely well protected. It is in a bullet-proof, bomb-resistant case. In the event of a nuclear attack, it is quickly lowered into a nuke-proof vault.

A suicide bomber couldn't singe that document. Sprinkling powder is just an annoyance for the janitors.

And, yes, they were arrested.

So you're okay with this stuff?

Insofar as they were arrested, sure. They did no damage, and they were arrested. They'll probably have to pay fines.

If, as you implied in your OP, the cops did nothing...I would not be OK with it. But the perps were arrested. As it should be.

The cops allowed them to pour powder all over the display as well as disturb the chamber. I would have hoped they would have stepped in more proactively.

This appears to be a growing tactic for various demonstrators - throwing substances at or gluing themselves to prominent items in a bid to get publicity, but always with items that are behind glass or other protection to make sure they don't do any real damage. No doubt the cops guarding the rotunda have been trained in how to respond to demonstrators/publicity seekers generally, and these types of tactics specifically. Don't overreact, don't use significant force when not required, and don't turn a routine disturbance into a national incident.

Seems like they handled it appropriately and professionally.

1pg-"Sprinkling powder is just an annoyance for the janitors."

Ever notice how, when a poster begins a reply with "So," a logical fallacy follows.

dope-So you're okay with this stuff?"

Clearly onepoorguy said nothing of the sort.

-------------------

I like the way these Germans handled it, this from a couple years ago....

A group of nine scientists have glued themselves to the floor of Volkswagen’s Autostadt facility in Germany to protest climate change.

Unfortunately for members of the ‘Scientific Rebellion’ activist group when it came time to close up for the night, VW locked the doors and switched off the lights and heating.

According to the protesters, the carmaker supported their right to protest but neglected to give them ‘a bowl to urinate and defecate in a decent manner while we are glued.’
