“Newcastle-based Greggs has renamed one of its bakes after a statement from Prime Minister Andy Burnham. When asked to name his favourite Greggs order, the Prime Minister replied: “That sausage, bean and cheese thing.” Referring to the popular Sausage, Bean & Cheese Melt.
Sales of the bake have doubled following the interview, as shoppers and No.10 staff queued to sample the PM’s preferred pastry. Now Greggs has adopted his less-than-official description, renaming the item the ‘Sausage, Bean and Cheese Thing’ in his honour.”
My latest thoughts on the investment:
Market saturation, increasingly hot summers, obesity drugs, input inflation, UK cost of living pressures and rising taxes are all headwinds.
Positives include new production facilities lowering costs. Strong growth sales to supermarkets. Free cashflow increases significantly as the large capex cycle ends. Earnings yield and dividend yield attractive.
Overall I’m happy to hold and hope to see a higher share price over the next 18 months driven by higher FCF.
Good to see the clever marketing strategy continues.
