Trump Names Bill Pulte as Acting Director of National Intelligence
President Trump said he was naming Pulte, a home-building heir who runs the Federal Housing Finance Agency, to be the acting director of national intelligence, replacing Tulsi Gabbard.
Senator Angus King, Independent of Maine, said that the appointment of Bill Pulte as the acting director of national intelligence “makes no sense.” King, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said the job of coordinating the nation’s spy agency requires experience and expertise in national security.
“I’m puzzled by this appointment because of all the people involved in our intelligence agencies, and of all the people who work within our national security apparatus protecting Americans across the country and around the world, the president has chosen someone with no experience whatsoever in this complex and critically important field,” he said.
