The week's question
In March 2025, in the thread "Re: OT, out", Umm asked the members: "Do you think it is because America is made up of magical soil that makes businesses based in America magically profitable?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Working on rebuilding a 50-60% income allocation with combo of something like 1/3 income CEFs, 1/3 high-er yield ETFs (SPHY-family) / equity income ETFS (UTG, etc) and 1/3 "defined-maturity" Treasury ETFs at their longer end like IBTL. Would like to see a week or two of stability in the Pimco prices before getting back in but those yields are sizzling on the plate in front of us. My goal is $40k-$50K a year in income.

The PIMCOs (leveraged sub-investment grade CEFS) have taken a rightful hammering in the last few months as yields have been driven up in this emerging bond bear market. It seems close to a bottom given the extent and the breadth of the price destruction of longer-dated bonds as the 10Y gets over 5%.

Interested in ideas; I have added stuff like QNZNX and unrelated CTA fund DBMF in the recent unpleasantness.
