They're just grasping for anything.

I was reading just last night that apparently the convict has been in a foul mood (as reported by people close to his campaign) ever since Biden dropped-out because -in part- he has to shift gears and come up with a bunch of new lies and attacks. (disclosure: I added the "lies" to that statement, it wasn't in the original piece I read.)

They are scrambling to do the new opposition research, come up with new angles, and get a narcissistic septuagenarian with dementia up to speed on his new opponent.
