And the advertising effectiveness of search may have gone down.

Ad blockers exist.
Raspberry-PIhole exists.

Mine blocks every thing related to adsense.

Mine also blocks every of the dozen+ URLs that my ROku TV tattle-tails to.

I have not seen an ad on Youtube for years. Sometimes I can tell where an ad tried to place, because there is a slight jutter in the video. Also, have seen comment threads where people complained about things like 10 minutes of ads in a 20 minute video -- when I have not seen a single ad.

Lots of people like me exist. The more intrusive the ads become, the more people will install ad blockers.
