It's a myth that Trump supporters are low income people. They may live in rural areas, but they generally make a pretty good living. MAGA world has its roots in the Tea Party movement. Remember Joe the Plumber? He owned his own plumbing business and was pretty well off. MAGA includes thousands of small-business owners like Joe.
Right now, if you ask Trump supporters what their number 1 issue is, they'll say it's the Southern Border. They're not saying that making ends meet is their top concern. Can you imagine Republicans in New Hampshire - 1,000+ miles away from the Mexican border - saying that the border is their No 1 issue?
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4422273-immi...Have farmers forgotten that Trump's China trade war tariffs hurt them? That China retaliated with export bans that led to farmers losing income? Yes, I know Trump gave them money to compensate, but most farmers would rather have the free trade than get govt handouts.
Working class auto workers should remember that it was the Obama/Biden administration that bailed out US automakers in 2009, and is the reason why they still have jobs today. Biden is the only US president to gave ever joined auto workers in a picket line.
In 2016, exit polls found that "The median household income of a Trump voter so far in the primaries is about $72,000". That was higher than the median income for Hillary Clinton supporters, which was around $61,000.
"In Florida, for instance, the median household income for Trump voters was about $70,000, compared with $48,000 for the state as a whole. "
So, yeah, these are not poor people. They're xenophobic people.
