Over a decade ago I had written on TMF that Newsom is an impressive fellow. Yeah, some personal drama skeletons are there -most of us have something. And there would be lots of California baggage as Presidential Candidate - but nevertheless I've watched him speak in person once, and a few times on TV - and found him intelligent and thoughtful. That doesn't mean I agree with his politics, it just means I'm not a Tribal American, programmed to whine "Trump!" every 3 seconds online.
Wasn't too long ago the Snob Caucus was touting California's great budget reforms. Of course, someone on TMF was giggling openly about what happens gif Capital Gains tax payments go down. But anyways, let's look at some small, but great things going on:
Imagine - tons of tourism, tech giants, wealthy citizens - - but tent cities. Yes, typical vision of what Liberals want. Segregation. And a very visible have and have not. Hey, it ain't Trump running California.
https://calmatters.org/newsletters/2023/01/califor..."In its first formal response to Gov. Gavin Newsom's $297 billion spending plan, the Legislature offered some pointed feedback on Wednesday: The governor's fiscal forecasters are being too optimistic and the state needs to prepare for a worsening budgetary outlook". -- man, something so cheerful about that statement. Some legislators are worried about:
*LESS spending on "public transportation" - -oh get over it. We need more drivers using Fossil Fuels and don't worry - between Exxon, Chevron and the other greats - we got this.
*One legislator wants more for "workforce development." Oh pipe down. California takes in many immigrants. And ALL of them are extremely well educated, qualified, and pay handsome income taxes and between the huge immigrant influx, and excellent state colleges - all the workers there are already fully developed.
Anyhow, good to see the Governor trying to make a few cuts here and there.
It's a sign of things being on the upswing.
