At an campaign appearance in New Hampshire, republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley struggled to answer the question of what caused the Civil War: "I mean, I think the cause of the Civil War was basically how government was going to run. The freedoms and what people couldn't do."

Umm, you mean own Black people?

When pressed about why she was having difficulty using the word 'slavery,' Haley replied: "What do you want me to say about slavery?"

President Biden, on Twitter, retweeted the video of Haley failing History 101 with the single sentence: "It was about slavery."

Evidently, in today's republican party, in addition to "Don't say gay," there's "Don't say slavery."

What kind of a political party is it that insists that its presidential candidates pretend that slavery never existed?
