it needs to be cleaned out at least once a week

Nonsense. We have two Bosch dishwashers and the filters are cleaned every 3 to 4 months. I take the filters out, wash them in the sink with a sponge, and replace them inside the dishwasher. Takes 2-3 minutes max.

That's a non-starter for me since my knee hurts

The filters are NOT underneath the chassis near the floor! They are just below the bottom rack, it is just about as easy to pull the filters out as it is to take stuff out of the bottom rack.
