Most Trump supporters have different priorities, policy preferences, and beliefs than you or I. For example, I imagine that most of his supporters place a really high priority on border control. It's very important to them. They may not want something that's quite as draconian as what happened in Minnesota and Chicago, but they definitely wanted something very different than what they believe the Harris Administration would have provided.
Trump is singularly unpopular, but it's not surprising that people that generally support the types of things he does (or says he wants to do) are going to feel justified in choosing him over Harris, even as they're disappointed with some (or many) of the choices he makes. Because they genuinely want very different things for the country than what a President Harris (or President Biden or President AOC or President Newsom or President Ossoff or whoever) would likely deliver.
