The Republican Party has become the home for racists, misogynists, and Christian nationalists. Democrats, in spite of their traditional disorder, are welcoming to all. All races, all faiths, all genders.
In the race between a white man and a black woman, qualifications and policy become irrelevant. The marginal Republican voter, the one who isn’t watching policy, is motivated to vote against the black woman more than they would be to pick between two white men.
